Will the new Australian Drone Laws Help?

CASA has implemented new laws for recreational drone/UAV use in Australia – an update on the original laws written 14 years ago! This post from RPAS explains the basics.

Questions still remain though in relation to operation of drones. Aviation experts are also concerned will calls for registration and mandatory insurance – similar to the US model where rego is very modest and designed to encourage operators to register. As I wrote last month, serious incidents are infrequent but will grow in frequency and seriousness as drones and UAV’s grow in popularity

Whilst drones are fun to operate and are now proving their worth in the business world for a variety of applications – the real challenge going forward is how the industry deals with idiots and those using these platforms for illegal purposes…
